The figures are in for the 20th Anniversary fundraising project – co-ordinated by Shirley Richer. A grand total of £5,152.31 has been raised. A huge thank you to everyone who participated in any way.
The newsletter also reports on the renovation project of the family houses and three sponsored A-level students who have just received their exam results and done well. We are always looking for sponsors for more students and the newsletter contains details about the costs involved.
Finally we extend a warm welcome to Rev. Clive Chikomo, who has joined the MRCH team as Chaplain at the Home.
There is a new Gift Aid form available. If you are able to gift aid any of your contributions to the Friends of Matthew Rusike please consider doing so. It makes a huge difference to our funds each year and the money goes straight to the Home.
Thank you.
We received a lovely card from the Home and wanted to share it with you.
The December Newsletter is now available.
Please take a look at Zviriane Marore’s report for a little more detail about the vital contributions your funds make to the health of the children and their education. There are also a few amazing photographs of the progress the Home is making towards self sufficiency given the irrigation support they are receiving.
We are very pleased to welcome our new Treasurer this month-Immanuel Mudzinge. Immanuel is a member of the Methodist Church in Britain and in Zimbabwe.
And of course we also want to say a huge thank you to David Graaff for all the work he has done for our Charity over the years. He will be maintaining contact with the Friends as Committee Member. Thank you David.
Poems by children from the Home…
The first tooth – by a girl, aged 13
Everyone in the house is happy,
Just because the baby
Has a tiny tooth to show!
I have got a double row,
All as white and all as small,
But no one cares for mine at all.
The baby cannot say a full word,
Yet that single sound is prefered
To all the words I can sayAdd New
In the longest summer days.
Thank you..
Education – by a girl, aged 11
Education, Education,
Education is the key to success
No one can be a teacher without education
No one can be a pastor without education
So boys and girls, education is important for you
And for my country Zimbabwe

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Bromley. John was the inspiration behind the Friends of Matthew Rusike Children’s Home 20 years ago. He worked tirelessly as our Chairman for many years and the Home believe he was very influential in the development of modern childcare practised there. He will be greatly missed both here in the UK and in Zimbabwe.
Each year we sell Christmas cards chosen especially for FoMRCH. Over the years we have raised thousands of pounds, all of which has been sent directly to the Home.
A pack of 10 cards costs £2.99. Each year the flyer shows which designs are available.
NOTE: Packs of Christmas cards will no longer be sent out automatically so please order early to avoid disappointment particularly if you want packs of single designs. Mixed packs are also available on request. Either way, please contact our Chairman to place or alter your order.
A big thank you to everyone who helps by buying and/or distributing cards.
You can see how our funds are used here.
It’s 20 years!
The Friends have been supporting the Home for a long time now and our efforts are very much appreciated and still very much needed. Thank you to everyone undertaking fundraising events in this our anniversary year. Please let us know more about what you are up to and send us photos we can post here to inspire others to yet more fundraising.
“We thank God for the journey you have travelled with MRCH over 20 years. Your intervention made a big change in the day to day running of the Home…We are delighted that all four young people mentioned in our last newsletter are now being sponsored for 2 year A level courses held at MRCH college. Thanks to generous people who came forward quickly, their studies could begin without delay.” Rev. Margaret Mawire
